it seems that dapayk used to listen to a lot of hip-hop when he was younger. his latest ep for still vor talent >let go< has got these influences written all over it. the title track starts out with a male vocal and some sounds that sound a little like scratching before things then quickly head into the direction of the club. the vocal by singer camara could not be more reminiscent of 80s house music and this track has got all the soul and groove of this era. beneath the delicate vocal and sound patterns lies a wonderfully simply staccato house groove that is sure to get everyone shuffling. on the flip things get a little more techy with >nneka<, a deeper and more melodic tech house glider that gently takes the listener towards a harmonic state of mind. beautifully arpeggiated pads, a warm soulful groove and some reverbed vocals make this one. last up is the sample-based tech-house stomper >upyo< featuring production partner jon hester. this is loop heaven: a pushy beat loop with many snares, reverse samples and an unexpected saxophone melody make this one the perfect changeover track from warm-up to peak-time. this ep shows dapayks skills to combine many musical influences into his unique still of tech-house music

dixie yure is the incarnation of contemporary oldschool house music from seville. after some digital only releases it is about time for some haptic experience. with the 10“ record „show me satisfaction“ on berlin-based label fenou his sound is rotating on turntables for the first time. monotonous minimalism ain’t dixie yures world. the sound tends more towards 2step and builds a homogeneous and pleasant mixture with classical house elements and vocal parts. you just cant deny yourself dancing the >chicken dance< and stepping like hell! thanks to the funky improvisations extending over the whole track you wont get bored even after listening to >show me< for the hundredth time. the a-side is just fun - in the club as well as on your couch. you wont miss the low-pitched vocals on the b-side either as they are typical for the spanish producer. >satisfaction< is a little more reduced than >show me< but is enhanced with jazz elements such as pianos and saxophones. it shows that wind instruments in electronic music dont have to be annoying tribal elements. in this example acoustic instruments do not just get mixed up with house music but merge to one groove – absolutely rocking tune!

dmom continues where it stopped with the outstanding release by avex axiom and its remix from dustin zahn: more than solid, floor-shaking techno. this time we head towards some italian connection and we are happy to present a very promising new talent from italy, ralph mirto, who delivers a true masterpiece of minimalized, but powerful techno with his >path<. also >deaths head< hits it perfectly and the remixer for >path<, sasha carassi, needs no more introduction meanwhile. releasing on world famous labels like 8 sided dice, harthouse or weave shows where he plays: on top! what a remix, you will love it!

phonica records limited offshoot returns with a second 12 inch from the man that kickstarted the label iori. the okinawan producer, whose >galaxy / urge< 12 inch won praise from across the board, has been working prolifically and this is only a brief glimpse of things to come. first up is >spatiotemporal< - a ten and a half techno odyssey towards the deeper echelons of the genre. starting off as a simple drum attern, >spatiotemporal< slowly but steadily builds up, with iori bringing layer after layer of synths proper mid-paced cosmic techno!! its definitely one of those tracks that need to be left to do their work preferably on a loud soundsystem! on the flip, weve secured the remix talents of one of the hottest names in techno at the moment. all the way from cold sweden, skudge have made quite a name for themselves in the last year, with solid releases on their own imprint. their remix of >grit< more than exceeded our expectations. its a masterpiece of stripped down techno that brings to the fore all the parts we like from the original, while taking it in a completely different direction. special artwork by pedro carvalho de almeida.

sascha dive has been successful both as a producer, and as a dj. when you talk with him about club music, and in particular house music, you almost get the impression of talking to a human encyclopaedia. his expert knowledge combined with his definition of contemporary club tunes makes his sets a unique experience. he takes the audience on a trip towards the future and the past, and at the end of the night gently back into the here and now again.

for this 10th wph release we looked towards belgiums finest raoul lambert aka raoul belmans aka one half of swirl people to follow up on his splendid wph blue b-side track 3 seconds released late 2009. raoul quickly sent us cinnamon dreams, the result of a long valencia-session with friend and fellow producer nacho marco, during which they apparently ate the whole spanish supply of belgian speculoospasta, a specialty that cannot be translated in english, but it contains cinnamon, hence the name of the track and the ep

back on friday 17th september (2010)...second single for the hotly tipped london based producer pariah on the legendary r&s record label. parishs debut single detroit falls/ orpheus gained the young producer many high profile fans including rob da bank, mary ann hobbs, ramadanman, untold, len faki, appleblim, chris duckenfield and will saul amongst many others. the first ep also found its way onto high profile, and influential blogs and websites including pitchfork, fact, gorilla vs bear, no pain in pop and rcrd lbl, and was a recommended release at boomkat. the debut single contained the first two pariah tracks ever recorded and were instantly recognisable as referencing the hip hop beat collages of dilla and the moody atmospheric 2 step rhythms of burial. this doublepack sees pariah move further towards developing his own sound, and takes in slamming percussive club tracks, deeper 2 step excursions and downtempo and beatless highlights. early supporters of this release include mary ann hobbs, falty dl, ramadanman, ben ufo, untold and mosca.

always looking for the perfect beat! this is the aspiration of every dj. and with wanted beatz the goal gets a whole piece closer to the perfect beat. so minimal lounge gives with glow box the answer to the question was still open. this killer track is just groovin and conjures at the latest with the onset vocal everyone a smile on his face. although no one understands a word. the label-head madison flies with his remix straight towards the floor, shift up a higher gear and turning glow box in a true peak-time bomb. lepetri (ostwind records) rounds off this release wonderfully and kicks off all remaining questions on the dance floor. definitely a must-have for this summer.

just how much mileage can you get out a single loop? both pablo cahn and cesar merveille seem to know the answer. if only these guys had turned their talents towards automotive engineering, we might have vastly more fuel-efficient cars by now, and an end to global warming. but we can take consolation, at least, in the heat they bring to the dancefloor. cahn and merveille worked together on cadenza 39, here they each take a side in a friendly contest to see who can go deeper.

in the world of factory presets, default settings and copy-paste ethics, there are few artists that actually care to make a difference. and -who told you that?-, 29th release on warsaw recognition label, is certainly a voice to be heard. the title track is another subtle narrative from label boss jacek sienkiewicz. eerie chord and a solid, damp beat from the start are underpinned by sherds of dialogue - snippets of words and laughter keep coming back in the mix, providing some sort of uneasy commentary towards todays minimal house formula. but at some point the voices disappear - and then the tracks gently goes somewhere outside the boundaries of todays club music, somewhere otherworldly. this shift, albeit amazingly subtle, is a leap towards music free of any defined context, far beyond dancefloor and definitely original. if this sneak peak into the possible futures of manmachine induced visions is too much to handle, there is still the b-side of this release. two tracks here - both clocking around mere 5 minutes - are prime exercises in compact, clever, tight and efficient club tools. uplifting -cobalt drive- is bound to to be quoted and reworked into many forms of a late-night burner. patefon, on the other hand, is a peak-time stormer with its stuttering chords and moody samples, supposedly picked from some vintage shellac discs

>white winter lust< is the third release by ekkohaus, a greek artist living in berlin, on cargo edition. throughout the last two years ekkohauss music has constantly developed towards a deep house sound which has always been an element in his tracks. you feel he was brought up on this music and it’s his life.

mikkel metal aka mikkel meldgaard is back on echocord with a new powerfull ep. after the latest succesfull full length album with tikiman here comes the next ep on >passenger ep< mikkel metal tries explores new facets of his sound and take a detour from the dub-technom, thats his usual trademark. while obviously still retaining a metal-signature, theres an opening towards a more raw dirty detroit sound here, thats clearly new to his production. opening track >further< is slow tough track with a heavy kickdrum and simple theme. in its austerity it might actually remind one of very early metal productions like >eight< from echocord 01. remaing tracks >no stars today< and >i dream< both build on a dirty simple groove and layers synths and distorted themes on top.

dj support by doc martin, luke solomon, rob mello, anthony collins, sebo k., raresh, matthias kaden! the latest cut from the house of horizontal comes courtesy of head seamstress herself dinky. it comes as no surprise then that æpaquitaÆ û our eponymous a-side heroine û dances as well as she dresses. with unabashed bounce in the bass, a hip-shaking kick and impassioned vocal hook, the track issues funk and soul in abundance as it makes headway towards sumptuous stabs of a delectably old-school flavour. matthew styles weaves his thread through proceedings to tailor a revamp of æpaquitaÆ in deftly-cut club couture. elements of dub bubble over a relentlessly driven beat in what is a typically cool and candid offering from the horizontal stalwart.

here we have a double a-side 12-inch, with an intriguing new development of the secondo sound. still banging, still aimed at the club but with a sense of maturity and laid-backness, that the previous secondo material for dreck records might not have been centred around. the whole outlook has become more house orientated and we are very excited about this new mixture of the secondo splice-funk with the steadiness of early 90s house generating its own idiosyncratic sound. on the a-side, i think im gonna likeestablishes the housey mood of the 12straight off. a brief vocal sample is dotted over a relaxed rhythm until a break mid-track introduces the second half to its full extent and bloom. ædoktor panglosson the b-side continues with the mid-tempo flavour set out by the aside and is defined by a steady build up towards a disco sample beautifully placed towards the end of the track, where a heavy bass line cuts short the euphoria of disco strings. the sampling and references in both tracks have been pushed to the background and mentioning any of them would not do this exciting new material any justice. its all fresh!

maybe >grandfathers clock< is the most house influenced release from the german duo piemont so far. going more deep dirty and housy this time... they turn towards a more relaxed and slack approach. chopping up bits of vocals and sounds, tight and funky, this is what piemont is all about. >running mirror< refers to giorgio moroder respectively hi energy influences and is a hypnotic cool groove monster that will convert spaces into soulful places. frederic and christian have released a good dozen of records now and have been very successful. with >peak time tracks< such as >carbonat< being played by the whole lot of ibiza djs and big names around the world. >running mirror< definitely manifests a turning point in their musical spectrum... to deeper grounds of electronic dance and will get other djs involved in their manifold world of music.

might niko schwind be the new kingpin of house music? everybody needs to find out for himself of course and that is best done when listening to his freshest output for stil vor talent: the “midnightfunk” ep. it kicks off with the title track that features the great chicagoeske vocal skills of patrick blasa, who takes us in on this journey towards a time when house music ruled the waves of the club oceans. imagine a sticky slap bass, cowbells, high-pitched vocals and low-pitched male laughing plus of course the greatest thing about this scorcher: a somewhat jetlagged piano that seems to leap behind in one moment to then be right there again when it matters. ace!

ltd 2010 repress !!! marco carolas string of recent releases on plus8 and his own 2m imprint are now effortlessly hurtling forward under the weight of their own momentum and the bloody cash ep shows no sign of relenting. in fact if its possible, this collection of four new combustible tunes adds another dimension to his already substantial repertoire. on the title track bloody cash, carola immediately shows his intent, letting fly with a spiraling tribal groove full of bright, crisp percussive elements that stretch skywards towards the sun. the tough, earthy beats keep everything rooted to the ground as he taps into some age-old hedonistic urge, creating a universal groove that rolls out across the oceans before breaking on the shores of each continent with an all encompassing call to dance. the main body of the track incorporates a straight synth stab doused in reverb that sets the scene for the finely crafted main keyboard riff, which is an accomplishment in itself. alternating between two complimentary parts, it elevates the backing track to another level. perfectly balanced and enhanced for maximum danceability, its without doubt one of carolas finest works to date

well ok, no rule without exception... this beautiful joint from johannes albert is a little web 2.0 fairy-tail: the white rookie & cratedigga no. 1 moomin found a youtube clip of a dj hammering a super-deep, rough piano track in a club in the german city of paderborn. he didnt know the track, so he sent the dj a mail asking and a few mails later, the tracks from johannes were blowing away mr. offermanns ears. so the labelhead decided to make this the next white. of course first of all johannes & oskar had to meet a few times to make sure they understand each others vision well and after a few meetings they eventually became friends. so the labels movement towards the direction of house is continued by this release. wooden pearls is pure housemusic to the core. very wooden & grounded in the lower spectrum and crystal clear up in the sky. these very honest and timeless tracks tell us a story. the story of johannes alberts passion for house. since he was 15 years old, he is a fan. from the german franconia he follows house throu his local recordstore >swing king<

the spaniard manuel fernandez llorente had a classical musical upbringing, studying at the music conservatorium in madrid. he has been composing and producing electronic music since 1996, not only releasing on his own label >7noise< but more importantly also being licensed for various major compilations. now he is releasing his first tracks on highgrade records. at first, >addiction< unspectacularly plods on towards house heaven, but then the sparse vocals and timeless organ sounds give you a warm and soft electro shock. the first track on the b side >the gull< shows off prompts talents as a composer. a very discreet melody blankets the straight beat, taking away the coldness of the bass. a beautiful dream track that should never really end. >mechanic< brings it home and is right in your face, a journey into minimal techno country, where you meet the sound ghosts that prompt has summoned. a single drum beat here, a voice there and a now and again a sound shred that are all meticulously arranged to make the perfect atmosphere.

when casting a weary eye towards the impending chill of winter, its important to remember that the choice of company kept can greatly affect the way in which one wiles away the long gray hours. in this case, we didnt even need to look further than our own backyard. enter deep techno masons, donor/truss. made up of greg schappert of brooklyn and tom russell of wales, their collective efforts have seeped into the consciousness of world class djs, producers and fans of uncompromising techno music through releases on synewave, miniscule, dilek, and dumb unit. with this, their first ep on thema, they have begun expanding their signature sound. the heady claustrophobia we’ve come to know and love has opened up just enough, spurring a graceful and startling evolution. we also would like to say that we re very happy that themas first release for the year 2010 is, in part, from local nyc based talent. mr schappert has been a big supporter of this label for quite sometime and to have him and tom step onboard is just about the best way we can think of to start the new year. the future is here, welcome 2010!

after two highly acclaimed releases, enclave recordings return with an outstanding debut ep from irish dj/producer conor rogan. cogan delivers an impressive well rounded package which stands head and shoulders above most of the generic house music thats been flooding the scene these days. the title track >78<, is an infectious, hypnotic number with its roots firmly grounded in the golden era of funk and soul. expect mayhem at the disco when the groove kicks in towards the end where the slapped bass, chopped guitar, and flute take the track to another level.

in mos ferrys eyes mikael stavostrands no turning back(mfp024) release at the end of 2006 still marks a highlight of his minimal techno period - and this is not only because of big bullys unmistakable vocals. now, none other than daniel sanchez (mumbling yeah) takes up the subject once again and with his no turning back remix he picks up where the krause duo started tastefully back then. daniels 12 minutes remix relies totally on an energetic rolling groove and puts the vocals always precisely when others would think it cant get more driving. the second remix was made by mikael stavostrand himself and is a straight and spatial welldesigned dj tool. for his own re-interpretation big bully got reinforcement through the argentinean odnu and heads more towards dub techno. these are three very succeeded remixes, which awake the desire to listen one more time to the original (despite the title)

well known for her electrifying panoramabar sessions, representing her love for all things deep, sensual and musical about house music steffis talent has blossomed out of her relationship with the musically entwined cities of amsterdam and berlin.
her touching, classic-jack inspired productions continue to gracefully bubble towards the international surface with this 12 inch. her debut cut for the label, >24 hours<, featured on tama sumos >panoramabar 02< compilation set out her production intentions quite eloquently. >kill me< continues the warm, traveling night-time vibes and opens steffis signature sound up into a full vocal-led celebration of house.
besides steffis killer chicago inspired throb and moody melodic structure, >kill me< features the sultry vocal talents of close friend elif bicer, also recording partner of label mates prosumer and murat tepeli. elifs tender and instinctive story of a love lost and found flows honestly and creatively throughout the vocal version. an instrumental dub is also included for the creative use of the dj.
steffi also shows off her skills with the >crushed soul< mix, allowing her intuitive, sentimental yet dancefloor tuned chord progressions to flow stronger. baassline led and focused on clean, precisely measured beats and synth lines to tell the story, this alternative version goes even further to suggest what treats are yet to come from this talented producer.
